Quality Checking and Packing

The studio was really busy when I first started my placement at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. I was started in the beginning of September, which are just a couple weeks before they were about to launch their new collection for Spring/Summer 2019 for London Fashion week. I remembered that the studio is quite pack at that moment as every department has a lot of intern helping them. For your information, Preen has 4 different departments which each of them has different job and responsibilities. The First is Design department that responsible for designing new collection starting from research until finished sample garment, Second is Product Development that mostly responsible for product costing, The next department, which is where I am, is Production that responsible for garments manufacturing process until its ready to sell. And the last but not least is sales department that mainly responsible for selling the products.

In my first week at Preen, I mostly helping with logistic. There are so many garments coming in from the factory, ready to sell and ship to the store at that time. I was mainly helping with quality checking, packing and making sure that they are ship in the right quantity for the right store. Some people must see it as an easy job, however, I still feel that I gain some new skills from this including knowing what high-end quality standard is and become more and more organized and detail with my eyes.

When the garments had been made from the factory they usually deliver it to the office first to be checked. It usually more than 5 big boxes so if they arrived we will become very busy, checking and packing all garments. Sometimes not all garments come in good quality. We might find some faulty in it. If that happen we usually either fix it in the studio or send them back to the factory, mostly if they are quite a lot or has major faulty.

Throughout my first week at Preen I realized that everything I learn in my university helping me a lot to cope with this working environment. We were doing one week project last year in Uni when every week we need to submit different project, it was extremely tough for me since you need to be really efficient with your time. But I found it really helpful now because it trains me to be quicker and efficient. I feel more confidence in my placement since I feel that I can follow their way of working.
