At Preen, Production department not only handling with manufacturers but also with press, therefore, in every season, as soon as design team finished with the collection and the collection have been shown in fashion week, it will later be Production team responsibility. Production team will send some of the garments to manufacturers as an original sample for mass production and some others to press to get them shoot for look book.
Look book have been an important thing for almost every brand and company. It useful to shows the potential buyers their overall collection and how their clothes should be worn. As any other brand, Preen also make look book for every season of their collection. And this time, me and the other intern helping production department team archiving all garments that are in the look book.
Every time one season is over, Production Department team needs to archive all garments that are in the look book and keep it in the studio. This is because they will probably use the garments again for another photo-shoot in the future. For every season there are usually 60-80 garments out of 200 styles that need to be archived. Because this time, me and the other intern was archiving about 5 seasons including preen line garments, it took us quite awhile to do it. We ended up spend nearly 3 weeks archiving all the garments plus put it in order by the look to make it easier for them to look through it again and find the style they need in the future.
Basically, what I was doing first was look through the look book and find the garments they wore in every single look, for example, in autumn/winter 18 for look 1 the model wore Elsa Coat with organza/feather side panels, Oversized organza skirt, Black embellished/beaded fishnet tights, Eva heel, Black cashmere hood and High neck fishnet top, so we need to find that garments and put them all together in one bag then label it with autumn/winter 18 look 1 so every knows. We need to keep doing it until we finished the entire look for autumn/winter 18 and put all of them in boxes in one pile when finished. Then move
Although, in production team I am not always doing pattern and sewing as I am on my computer more often but I am enjoying my placement. I learn different thing from what I always doing in my university. It helps me more organized and does everything systematically. I feel like it will help me a lot when I come back to university and doing my collection in terms of handling the pressure as I am being more organized.
