The best thing I feel from being an intern at Preen is that I also can help the other area outside my placement so I can always learn something new. This week I am helping sales team prepare for the showroom where they will showcase Preen new collection in more private way. They usually do it for either buyers or creative director's family and friend. Preen is doing showroom quite often and not only doing it in London but also in Paris and New York. I am really excited when I was asked to help sales team to prepare for the showroom since it is completely different side of fashion I always do.
Different from helping production or product development team where it is more practical as I dealing a lot with pattern and fabric with sales team I usually help with writing their email, researching some stuff for them regarding showroom and also packing all the stuff we need to go to showroom.
The first thing we need when we were doing the showroom is setup the location. We need to book the whole van since we bring so many things for set up. We were start setting up at 1 pm but need to be finished by 5pm as the showroom open at 5pm. Therefore, everyone was super busy. Almost no free time for us and you will see everyone running around. Because of that situation I did not have the chance take a lot of pictures. I totally regretted it now.
When we finished set up. We were just waiting for the guest to come. All intern were responsible to assist the buyers in whatever they need such as try the clothes on or give them a drink or snack and one of us responsible at front door to welcoming all the guests. For one collection Preen usually do the Showroom twice one time for the buyers from from fashion retail or store and another one for family, friend and VIP customer. For this time I joined the showroom for family, friend and VIP customer, I really hope I can join the next Showroom for the buyers from retail fashion.
How the showroom works basically is that all the client will looking around the rail pick whatever garment they want to order and make the P.O. Order of their selection, the garments that they pick will be produce afterward and will be sent to their address.
Overall, It was such a nice experience. We were finished the showroom at 8pm, it was really tiring yet so fun.
