It’s not unusual that most of fashion companies will be really busy when it’s approaching fashion week. Same with my placement place, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi. Since fashion week coming soon everyone from all departments becoming super busy, even some interns stay later than usual to assist in preparing the show.
This time, considering that sales department has more work to do than production team, I have a chance to help sales team in preparing the show. What I did with the other sales intern were writing and printing all the invitation for guests and deliver them to the address they want to be delivered. We need to make sure there are no spelling errors and write the name, address and seating number correctly. Beside of that, we also need to double-checked the seating plan and ensure the right person have the right seating number.
In addition to that, since Preen by Thornton Bregazzi will hold the showroom right after fashion week, I also helped sales team with some research regarding showroom and helping sales intern preparing her presentation for showroom. Generally, It was quite hectic as we have a lot of things to do. However, it also was a nice and fun experience for me. Have a little break from sample, fabric and pattern and I dealt with a lot of data for few days are something new that I learnt. It was really nice to know what is the other department doing and learn different side in fashion industry.
Thinking that I might want to make my own brand after graduate, make me feel that this experience can be beneficial for me in the future. Knowing roughly what sales team tasks are and how they doing it give me an idea on how I will sell my stuff when I have my own brand. Nonetheless, I believe that I still need to have more experience in the other part of fashion industry such as PR and Digital marketing. Therefore, if I have a chance I really want to help PR and Digital marketing team at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and see what are they doing and learn from them. It might also useful for my final year as I feel that I will have digital marketing module in my final year.
